Hehe, another long time since I was here… Well, holidays and all.. trying to get those batteries reloaded. (If only the weather would cooperate. For the books; Summer 2007 was crap!)

Anyway, stumbled on this feature, where to me the ubergeekness has taken over again; you take a simple child game like “rock, paper, scissors” and add 22 more items .. what do you get ? A whole bunch of different combinations !!

I wonder how long it takes to remember all these different combinations, some of them are pretty logic, like “Monkey breaths air” … that is if you remember what the sign for “monkey” is

I have to admit, I was one of the guys that rushed to the stores when Sony’s Playstation came out. I payed big bucks for it and was baffled by the gameplay and graphics – Batlle Arena Toshinden, oh yeah !! When PS2 came out, I was at an age where I had other interests then playing video games . After that I started playing games on the PC, I never fell for the PSOne, but recently went back old school, and bought a Nintendo DS Lite – oh man, Nintendo sure (still) knows how to entertain! – my WII is amazing as well.

All that to say that over the years I went from liking Sony to not liking them at all,.. who can caugh up 600 bucks for a PS3 .. ? but that ‘s a whole other discussion…anyway, when I saw this, it made me laugh (and cry at the same time).

Cause PC World published their “Top 100 Best Products of 2007” already.

I wonder how they come up with those stats, half the things I ‘ve never heard of .. but with the other half I must agree that they are innovative.

Guess the challenge of making a Killer App is still getting bigger.

I came across this fun 10 minute walk through the memory lane of the forgotten consoles. Some of really fall in to the category “what were they drinking while designing this”, other where simply ahead of they time – some ideas where good but the technology to weak. Look at the Phantom - designed to use a direct-download content delivery service instead of discs – I, personally think this to be a good idea.

Nokia’s N-Gage was (/is – I don’t know if they sell these buggers still) a real slap in the face. The scandinavian giant already came up with some brilliant designs (who didn’t wanted to be Neo ), but the N-Gage really blows. Maybe the ideay of fusing a cell phone with a game console is not that horrible, but the design was awful.

I wont even talk about Nintendo’s disaster…

I ‘ll quickly mention Phillips “Interactive” breakthrough with the Phillips CDi. I once found one (still working) in the dumpster, and I also remember seeing a guy demo-ing this in a shop – hilarious … even then I wasn’t impressed.

About the some other “failures” – from Sega & Atari; I can’t blame them, it’s natural for one to make even more money on/with an existing item.

I stumbled on this music/video site yesterday – http://www.musicmesh.net - I think it’s a fine example of how recent “technologies” can be used for something usefull. They still seem to be in beta state but besides some missing videos I didn’t find any major problems. I hope this project will continue and expand.

I came across this cool instructable for a Nes controller wallet. Again one should do this with a broken one !! I think I ‘ll try this on a rainy day in May.. Looks cool and original.. ofcourse you have to have the right age. (which is in y’r 35-40 ‘s )

Well, there you go, I ‘m part of the million people who decide to have a blog because … it’s just the thing to do, I guess… I ‘m not expecting at all for people to read this. Let ‘s say that I decided to do this out of curiosity … and to kill some time now and then . I ‘m not even sure what I’ll be writing here, interesting philosophical elaborations, technical masterpieces, .. i don’t think so ..

I’ll just wait and see. I guess it will be fun to look back to in a few years. I think that it will mainly be some interesting things I ‘ve found here and there. ( or at least that I find interesting).

Oh yeah, English is not my native language so should one pass here, don’t flame on my spelling!
